Sal Valentino Grew up in San Francisco where he and Ron Elliott hooked up in 1964 to form the Beau Brummels ("It sounded English"--Sal Valentino).
Their first single, "Laugh Laugh" was a hit and helped sustain the band's efforts for another 5 years. After the Beau Brummels broke up, Sal started Stoneground with the help and push of impressario Tom Donahue. It was an amazing sight and sound experience: 11 people on stage, including7 vocalists, all dancing, playing and generally having a great time. When Warner Brothers dropped Stoneground after 3 albums, Sal began looking for a new direction and formed several bands in 1973 and 1974. But then, the idea of reforming the Beau Brummels around a wealth of new material from song writer Ron Elliott proved tempting. The original 5 members rehearsed and played for nearly a year and it was in this period that the tapes for LIVE! '74 were recorded. In 1975, Warner Brothers released an album containing some of the same material, but it was a bit over produced and didn't do much in the marketplace.
Sal Valentino dabbled in many activities during the next 30 years. He is performing regularly again, with a renewed committment to interpreting some of the best songs he can find (and write.)
Sal’s first nationally distributed release in almost 40 years, “Every Now And Then” features the title song penned by long-time music collaborator and national recording artist, Jackie Greene. The record features many of Sacramento’s best-known musical icons including Jackie Greene, Chris Webster as well as Kevin and Allyson Seconds. The record was produced by David Houston and prominently features the gifted musician and producer throughout the record.
