BUCHO bridges the gap between old school soul and horn bands of the past with the youth twist of Hip-Hop energy. A strong musical collective that originated in Sacramento, California, Bucho has rocked crowds throughout the Western United States for the past four years, collecting great reviews and fanatical fans along the way. Bucho’s tight neo-soul sound provides the audience with an urban blend of funk, r&b and hip-hop, providing a showcase for each band member to exhibit the passion and skill of his particular craft.
Fronted by the whisky-smooth vocals and funky guitar work of Gerald Pease the band is also comprised of the soulful rhythm section of Josh Lippi on bass and Derek Taylor on percussion. Adding a bit of church and a whole new layer of sound is Ben Schweir on the Hammond B3/Fender Rhodes and a sizzling horn section comprised of Leon Moore/Anthony Coleman on trumpets and Roger Cox on sax.
Over the past four years, Bucho has garnered a trophy case full of accolades and awards, most recently being retired into the SAMMIE (Sacramento Area Music Award) Hall of fame, Best Dance Band and Best R&B album at the STAMMIES (Stockton/Modesto Area Music Awards), and chosen by Sacramento Magazine as Sacramento’s most intellectual dance band. Now focused on growing their regional presence into national recognition, Bucho has signed with independent record label, DIG Music and has released their first nationally distributed record “Omit the Harsh.” To support the new CD, Bucho has been featured in some of the finest venues in the Western United States such as the California World Fest, House of Blues in Las Vegas, Slim’s in San Francisco and Molly Malones in Los Angeles. They are also spending a great deal of “exposure time” supporting such major headliners as Coolio, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Michelle Branch and The Donnas.
