A proud member of the Baby Boom generation, it I have spent the past forty years traversing the twisting back roads of life, from corporate executive to record label owner. I have happily run the gauntlet and landed firmly in the lap of my one true love - music.
As a child I was hooked on Rock & Roll the first time that Ricky and the Nelson family flashed across the blue-green screen of our blonde television in the late 1950s. Music has been my passion ever since. My first professional venture into the music world was as partner of an independent retail record store in the early '70s which ended in heartbreak. Being young and eager, I picked up the pieces and headed off to conquer the business world. Since that time I have accrued over 25 years experience as an employee and executive for some of the country's largest Insurance companies. One of my greatest honors was being named employee of the year from over 10,000 candidates worldwide.
Every once in a while, an opportunity in life presents itself that you simply must follow. Mine was discovering a talented young artist named Jackie Greene. The moment I saw him, my life immediately changed and my career path took a rather drastic new fork in the road. Life came full circle in 2001 when left the business world to dedicate 100% of my time to the development of DIG Music and the career of Jackie Greene. Since that time we have grown substantially, with over 35 CD releases, Jackie Greene has become a nationally recognized performing artist and I have found a purpose. In mid 2009, MediumRare Records & Collectibles was born as a diversion from my day-to-day duties as owner of DIG Music. Along with the label and management company, selling the music and memories of the Baby Boom generation was the perfect addition to my trifecta. Although, there was a quarter century stopover in the corporate world, music has been the motivating force in my life. DIG Music and MediumRare Records & Collectibles provide an opportunity to utilize my music and business background to strengthen and support musical growth in our community and fulfill my life long desire to give back to my hometown of Sacramento.
My lifelong interest in popular and rock music began at the beginning. I had the radio tuned to the new "Top 40" stations when "Hound Dog" was a hit in 1957. I was only six years old. Time spent at concerts and with my record collection led to nearly 20 years in rock radio. I am currently an audio/video engineer and producer. I have always loved the excitement of excavating a piece of music, snatching it from the jaws of oblivion. I now find myself doing some of my own archive mining and I'm in a position to present unearthed musical gems to other fans. Through DIG Music I hope to preserve what I consider to be an extremely important part of 20th century popular culture and history.
At 30 years old, I have no business telling a story of "how it all began." I'll leave that to the old guys who keep telling me about these weird plastic discs they call "LPs!"
